About the album
Rafti, the 2nd single from the upcoming album ‘The Raft’ is a very special one for us.
The composing process of Rafti differs from the other songs of ‘The Raft’. On a cool, winter evening, between the many joint composing sessions for the album, Yali sent us a short voice message. It concluded only the intro, played by him on the acoustic guitar. A few moments later, another voice message appeared, with the melody of the first verse, and it was followed by another one, making its way to the chorus. Within minutes, the entire song was shaped and created. Almost seamlessly flowing from Yali’s mind and heart to his fingers, and then to Zafio’s forum. But it wasn’t as easy as it seemed. Rafti is dedicated to a close friend of ours, who has lost a great friend of his in that time. Out of the grief, this cheerful melody arose.
Rafti is about friendship and hope. About being connected and close to your loved ones. The song’s emotional nature got us to think that this melody might need lyrics, but as soon as we played it together, we knew that Rafti well belongs within ‘The Raft’s world. We are happy to present this song to you, and hope that after listening to it, you’ll have the power, wisdom, and solace of friendship, in your mind.
